Keeping your silver jewelry beautiful and shiny is very easy.
First of all, make sure that your piece of jewelry is made of 925 silver (also sterling silver), especially if other materials may cause allergies. This is something that often happens with earrings , and even more so if you have made new piercing holes and change the hypoallergenic earring from the pharmacy for one that is not made of 925 silver or gold.
Silver can lose its shine and darken over time, from use and also from not using it.
For this reason, and although it sounds like a cliché, it is very important that you always keep your silver jewelery in its original box or in a cloth bag so that it does not come into contact with air or humidity.
Has your piece lost its shine?
To recover the shine of your silver jewelery you can rub it with a cotton cloth or with a specific chamois for jewellery .
Does your jewel appear “smeared”, even darkened?
If you want to remove stains, this quick and easy trick is foolproof:
- Line a small bowl with aluminum foil, shiny side out.
- Heat half a glass of water and dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in it.
- Put your jewel in the bowl and pour the water with salt. Let it rest for a few seconds.
- Remove the piece and dry it, rubbing with a cotton cloth. It stays like new.
